Georgia’s Education Ministry plans to introduce a strict ban on mobile phone use during school hours as part of its broader general education reform, Education Minister Givi Mikanadze announced during the presentation of the new framework.
Mikanadze said the decision will improve students’ concentration and ensure full participation in the classroom. The reform will introduce a dedicated set of standards outlining how the restriction will be implemented across schools.
As the minister stated, the rules will be designed to avoid disrupting the learning process while still allowing essential communication. He emphasized that students will retain the ability to contact parents or other important individuals when necessary, with the system structured to balance safety, accessibility and academic focus.
