Committee of Relations with Compatriots Residing Abroad Chairman Nugzar Tsiklauri met Georgian consuls today.
Tsiklauri has said that such meetings are a good way to get acquainted with the whole list of problems and “defend our citizens and state’s interests more actively abroad.”
Georgian consuls in the UK, Northern Ireland, France, Austria, Germany, Lithuania, Greece, Croatia and Turkey attended the meeting.
Problems of each country’s citizens and diasporas, consuls’ activities and future plans were discussed.
Some of the main problems are the protection of Georgian language and culture, and the need to establish Georgian cultural and educational centers.
Committee representatives told Georgia Today that the meetings were divided in two parts in order to have more fruitful discussions; the first meetings were held yesterday.
