MoU Signed between Mastercard & Georgian National Tourism Administration

The newly-signed Memorandum of Understanding between Mastercard and the Georgian National Tourism Administration aims to facilitate tourist travel to the country, increase the number of tourists, create additional jobs, grow the economy and make Georgia one of the main tourist destinations.

The Memorandum lays the foundation for strategically important projects and will contribute to the development of tourism in Georgia. Mastercard's insights into spending trends at the international and domestic level places it in a unique position to support the recovery efforts of the tourism industry, which currently faces unprecedented challenges..

Mastercard and the Georgian National Tourism Association will explore how to best use the Mastercard Tourism Insight platform. The platform provides an innovative, 360-degree view of the consumer travel journey, pre- to post-trip, based on the incorporation of publicly available search engine trends and aggregated purchase trends, in one easy to use platform.

In addition, the company will look to leverage its payment technology infrastructure, and its network of partners - banks and businesses - to make the use of digital technologies even more accessible to tourists visiting Georgia.

Mastercard has already been particularly supportive of the tourism sector during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Earlier this summer, it launched the ‘Hello Summer’ campaign to encourage domestic tourism and consumers to rediscover the places they missed in Georgia. Special offers with and Georgian Railway, priceless emotions in the Mastercard area on the Batumi beach, gifts and promotions with Wolt, Coca-Cola and various partners are just a few of the activities carried out.
