Leader of Cybercrime Network Arrested in Georgia

Georgia has aided in an investigation that has brought down a global cybercrime network that stole over 100 million USD from businesses and institutions.

The group infected the computers of over 41,000 law firms, international corporations, NGOs and small businesses with their GozNym malware.

The police investigation involved investigations in the US, Bulgaria, Germany, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.

Authorities charged ten members of the criminal network in Pittsburgh in the US, whilst the network’s leader and technical assistant face charges in Georgia.

The European police agency Europol revealed the details of the investigation. It was “unprecedented, especially in terms of cross-border co-operation,” reported the BBC.
