Great Theater Director turns 75

Prominent Georgian theater director Temur Chkheidze is celebrating his 75th anniversary this year. The author of more than a hundred drama, TV and opera plays, Chkheidze represents one of the most important figures in the Georgian theater history. He has spent more than 50 years working in theater in and it is claimed that without his effort, Georgian theater would not be so deep and would not able to achieve success on the international arena. Temur Chkheidze is famous far beyond his home country. He is acknowledged worldwide and has staged productions in the greatest theaters, such as: La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera and the Bolshoi. The most remarkable works of the director include Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Pushkin’s Boris Godunov, Mikheil Dzhavakhishvili’s Jaqo’s Khiznebi (Jaqo’s Dispossessed). Temur Chkheidze is the laureate of a number of important awards.

To celebrate this notable date, Marjanishvili Theater has held a week dedicated to the work of Chkheidze, where spectators can once again watch and enjoy the plays directed by him.
