Print version
Everybody is a musician deep in their hearts – no matter where they’re from, whether they’ve gone to music school, or whether they simply enjoy tapping along. With that being said, May 9 will be a big day for music lovers, as Street Music Day, is coming to Georgia!
The festival was founded in Lithuania in 2007 by musician Andrius Mamontovas. After that, it spread all around the country. Last year the festival was brought to Latvia and Belorussia, this year Tbilisi is joining the party.
According to Youth Association DRONI, which is organizing the festival in Tbilisi, Street Music Day is a good opportunity for unknown singers to become famous and for professional musicians to show their great talent.
The festival is expected to provide space for creative musicians to express their ideas and musical feelings, as well as promote different kinds of art and creativity (traditional and modern art) and give responses too issues of racism, tolerance and discrimination. “It’s an opportunity to introduce Georgian society to different subcultures and to give everybody the chance to listen to great music for free,” Youth Association DRONI said in its press release.
