Dinamo wins against Reykjavik, reserve place in the playoffs of the Europe League

On July 28, the first matches of the third qualification round of the UEFA Europe League were held. Two Georgian teams played in the round. Metalurg (Rustavi) faced Rennes (France) in Tbilisi and lost 5-2; thus, making the response match to be held on August 4 in France a mere formality.
The response match between Dinamo (Tbilisi) and Rejkyavik (Iceland) will also be a formality as the Georgians won 4-1 to the Icelandic team and are one kick away from reserving their place in the Europe League playoffs.

Georgia vs. Spain in World Cup 2014 Qualifications

The Georgian national football team will face the acting world and European champion Spain on the World Cup 2014 qualifications round.
Along with Spain, the team of Ketsbaia will play against France, Finland and Belarus.
Georgia is in the last group and will have only four rivals.

Junior wrestling team of Georgia succeeds

The junior free-style wrestling team of Georgia won in the world junior wrestling championship held in Bucharest, Romania.
According to the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia, the Georgian wrestlers won 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal and took second place in the team count.
Vladimer Khinchegashvili and Davit Marsagishvili became world champions; Tedore Ebanoidze and Mamuka Kordzaia won silver medals and Davit Galegashvili was awarded with the bronze medal.

Georgian judo wrestlers win medals at the European championship

The junior judo team of Georgia won 7 medals and took second place in the team count at the European championship held in Cottonera, Malta, on June 24-26.
Vano Mamisashvili (55 kg) and Beka Ghviniashvili (81 kg) won championship titles. Tamaz Kirakozashvili (60 kg), Shalva Chocheli (90 kg) and Giorgi Lazuashvili (+90 kg) lost in the finals and received silver medals. As for Levan Gugava (73 kg) and Guram Tushishvili (90 kg), they became bronze medal winners.
The women’s team of Georgia participated in the championship as well, represented by four sportswomen, but could not succeed beyond the starting level.
