New Writing Workshop for emerging writers

The third stage of the Joint British Council, Tumanishvili Theatre Foundation and Marjanishvili Theatre Project targeting emerging Georgian and Ukrainian writers, led by the world famous Royal Court team, was held at the Marjanishvili Theatre on June 29-July 4.

The Royal Court team, including Associate Director, and Head of the International Department of Royal Court Theatre; Elyse Dodgson, Royal Court Associate, Caroline Steinbeis and playright, William (Rory) Mullareky worked with a group of ten Georgian and Ukrainian writers for five-days to refine and finalize their texts.

The Royal Court, a London-based theatre, has been running a new writing program in many countries for over 20 years with the goal of finding energy for new writing and a commitment to developing new works for the stage.

According to the project’s organizers, the goal is to contribute to the sector and capacity building in order to respond to the interests and aspirations of new audiences through the state-of-the-art methodology from the UK for development of new writing in Georgia and in the Ukraine.

Jazz FM – a paradise for high-quality music lovers

The closer the start of the Black Sea Jazz Festival comes, the more relevant becomes the theme of tasteful, high-quality music among jazz music fans. Consequently, the appearance of the completely new Jazz FM radio (97.5) seems to also be very timely news.

On June 28, a partnership memorandum between the music promotion company Eastern Promotions and Media Holding Georgia Today Group, was signed at the Focus Cafe. The memorandum envisions the partnership of Jazz FM with the Black Sea Jazz Festival.

The commitment of Eastern Promotions makes Jazz FM really unique, as this is the company that has arranged almost all the jazz-related music events in Georgia for the past several years.

According to Misha Giorgadze, Eastern Promotions Director, the projects implemented by Eastern Promotions, like the Black Sea Jazz Festival, Tbilisi Jazz Festival, and the Jazz Series concerts, helped people realize that jazz is not only for a narrow audience and that it’s very diverse.
