Alia Holding complains about looming bankruptcy

Print version Print version

The newspapers Alia and Week’s Chronicles face bankruptcy, according to the Alia Holding publishing house, citing a verdict by the Appeals Court which imposed a 50 thousand lari fine on the holding for slander against Georgia’s renowned artist Otar Koberidze.

According to Media.ge, Alia plans to bring the case to the Supreme Court and in case they lose, the holding will be unable to pay the fine in time – one month period - thus having to stop the newspapers. Articles published by the Alia Holding last summer accused Koberidze of pedophilia.
