Print version
The 1, 000 Lari vouchers will be handed over to every household in Georgia starting from January 1, 2013 within the government’s new four-year program. The program’s draft will be submitted to the Parliament in October.
Under the program, which is called ‘More Profit to People’, each household will use the amount of 250 Lari per year. There will be a set of services for which the sum from the voucher can be used, involving paying utility fees; buying textbooks for schoolchildren; buying medicines; fuel and agriculture fertilizers. Visiting the Shubitidze family in Rustavi, Georgia’s Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili personally introduced the rules of using the voucher.
According to the internet portal Civil.ge, the state budget will have to earmark approximately 1.2 billion Lari (about $ 729.5 million) in the next four years for that purpose, or 300 million lari per year.
